Weapon Tags
Abyssal: The weapon drains life from the victim. It restores to the wielder half of the injuries dealt rounded up. If used by a living person against an undead victim, drained unlife affects the wielder negatively in the same formula. Undead wielders always recover injuries regardless of the living or unliving state of the victim.
Animated: When using this weapon, the user may purchase Close Combat attack Tricks out to Long range.
Brutal: The weapon inflicts massive damage. Reduce the number of hits required to purchase the Critical Trick by 1.
Concealable: The weapon is easy to hide. Gain +2 Enhancement to actions to keep it hidden.
Deadly*: The weapon’s attacks leave grievous wounds. The weapon applies the Aggravated Wound status effect instead of dealing damage. The person takes this effect regardless of their current Injury Level.
Deep Stone*: Gain access to the following Trick when making attacks with this weapon:
- Numb (1 hit): Inflict the Insensate status effect on your target.
Dreamcrafted: This weapon was crafted using the dreamstuff of the Obscura. Gain access to one of the following Tricks when making attacks with this weapon:
- Dreamridden (2 hits): Inflict the Exhausted status effect on your target.
- Mercurial Breakdown (3 hits): Inflict the Liquified status effect on your target.
- Occlusive (2+ hits): Inflict the Senses Occluded status effect on your target at a Complication level determined by the number of hits you make, e.g., 2 hits = Minor Complication, 3 hits = Moderate Complication, 4 hits = Major Complication.
Electrified: The weapon crackles with electricity. Gain access to the following Trick when making attacks with this weapon:
- Electrocute (2 hits): Inflict the Stunned status effect on your target and give a 2 Power Advantage to attacks if the target is in water.
Flaming: The weapon blazes with fire. Gain access to the following Trick when making attacks with this weapon:
- Burn (1 hit): Inflict the Burning status effect on your target.
Freezing: The weapon is wreathed in ice. Gain access to the following Trick when making attacks with this weapon:
- Freeze (2 hits): Inflict the Petrified status effect on your target.
Heavy Weapon: Heavy Weapons are massive weapons that pack a lot of punch. Gain 1 Power Advantage on attack actions with this weapon. This tag cannot be paired with the Concealable tag. This tag counts as two tags when applying it to a weapon.
Kaos Touched: This rare weapon has a hint of magic that allows its damage to bypass Kaos Forged armor.
Light Weapon: (Close Combat) This weapon can be used with Dexterity instead of Might in close combat.
Long Range: (Ranged) This weapon can be used to make attacks out to Long range.
Painful*: Though few weapons are pain-free, this one is designed to cause agony. Gain access to the following Trick when making attacks with this weapon:
- Suffer (2 hits): Inflict the Agony status effect on your target.
Piercing: The weapon cuts through non-magical armor or exploits weak points. After a successful attack on an opponent in non-Kaos Forged armor, deal damage directly to injuries and reduce the target’s armor rating by 1.
Poisonous*: This weapon is coated in poison. Gain access to the following Trick when making attacks with this weapon:
- Poison (1-3): Inflict the Fast-Acting Toxin status effect on your target.
Reach: (Close Combat) This weapon can be used to make attacks at Short range.
Returning: (Ranged) When making a thrown attack with this weapon, it returns to the attacker.
Sapping: This weapon has an Abyssal or deep stone quality, allowing it to drain Kaotic energy. Gain access to the following Trick when making attacks with this weapon:
- Drain (1 hit): Inflict the Taxed status effect on your target.
Shadow: The weapon is made in part with tangible darkness and infects the senses of the victim. Gain access to the following Trick when making attacks with this weapon:
- Occlusive (2+ hits): Inflict the Senses Occluded status effect on your target at a Complication level determined by the number of hits you make, e.g., 2 hits = Minor Complication, 3 hits = Moderate Complication, 4 hits = Major Complication.
Shield: (Close Combat) The weapon is a shield or can be used to block damage. The shield acts as light cover and cannot be refreshed until the next scene.
Stunning: Gain access to the following Trick when making attacks with this weapon:
- Stun (2 hits): Inflict the Stunned status effect on your target.
Unstable*: This weapon sparks with Kaotic energy. Gain access to the following Trick when making attacks with this weapon:
- Warp (2 hits): Inflict the Kaos Warped status effect on your target.
Versatile: This weapon can be used as both a melee weapon or at range, up to Medium range.
Worn: The weapon is attached to your body and cannot be disarmed or knocked out of your reach.
Wounding:* Gain access to the following Trick when mak- ing attacks with this weapon:
- Wound (1 hit): Inflict the Bleeding status effect on your target.
Wrecking: (Close Combat) If this weapon is melee, give it access to the Destroy Object Trick. When purchasing the Destroy Object Trick on an attack with this weapon, you may destroy any non-Kaos Forged armor (or Kaos Forged armor if this weapon also has the Kaos Touched tag).
*The attack must be on an unarmored target, or the number of hits must bypass the target’s armor for this tag to be effective. When combined with tags such as Kaos Touched and Piercing, the tag functions as long as the target receives an injury.
Armor Tags
Adhesive: If attacking an opponent at Close range, on a successful attack, this sticky or barbed armor allows the wearer to buy the Establish Grapple Trick for 1 fewer hit than normal (for free, unless something Complicates the attempt).
Artifact: The armor is made of a special material that makes it hard to pierce through normal means. Gain 1 Durability Advantage on defensive actions. This tag cannot be paired with the Concealable tag.
Concealable: The armor is easy to hide. Gain +2 Enhancement to actions to keep it hidden.
Elemental: The armor is augmented with a specific element (such as fire, ice, crystal, etc.) chosen when the armor is made. The element protects the wearer from an appropriate status effect associated with that element. For example, fire renders the wearer immune to the Burning status effect, and ice renders the wearer immune to the Petrified status effect. This tag may be taken multiple times, each one for a different element.
Exquisite Material: The armor is made of a rare material that allows the wearer to remain firm against most attacks. Increase the cost to purchase non-damaging Tricks against the wearer by 1 hit.
Fitted: This sleek armor is specifically designed to allow the user greater movement while still protecting vital areas. Gain +1 Enhancement to defensive actions.
Kaos Forged: This armor was made with a spark or more of Kaos energy, allowing it to function against weapons with the Piercing tag.
Magic Resistant: The armor is especially capable of resisting damage from the World Below’s magic. Gain +1 Enhancement to defensive actions made against Theses, Syntheses, Sorceries, and Antitheses. This tag may be taken three times.
Padded: The armor grants 1 additional injury box above the first. This tag may be taken twice.
Spiked: This armor is made to impale anyone who comes too close. In a successful grapple, each round the opponent remains grappled, they suffer 1 injury with the Piercing tag. The wearer may also treat their unarmed attacks as if they bear the Piercing tag.
Tool Tags
D’Well: This item was made from the pure, unrefined sub- stance of the Well, and it radiates power. The item conveys 1 Advantage in a single area from Durability, Power, Social, or Mental.
Exceptional: The tool is particularly useful and provides an additional +1 Enhancement to its action. This tag may be taken twice.
Expendable: The tool is made of easy-to-find materials and is relatively easy to remake or rebuild. If this character loses this item, by the next session they’ve found or crafted a copy without requiring an action.
Eye-Catching: This tool was made by the most talented of artists and is stunning to behold. When using it, gain +1 En- hancement on Influence actions. Your character looks the part.
Kaos Bound: The tool is made of Kaos or is imbued by Kaos in some way. This tool can be used to grant its Enhancement to the use of Sorceries.
Multiuse: The tool can be used for a different purpose than its original creation. Choose a second set of actions that the tool can grant its Enhancement to, such as a pick being used as a digging tool, a weapon, or a tool for intimidation.
Qeobaca Machinery: This device uses Kaotic energy as a power source, providing it with the ability to work automati- cally (without manual control) after activation using a dice pool and for rounds equal to the number of Qeobaca Machinery tags applied to it, to a maximum of 4.
Rugged: The tool is made of a special material that makes it difficult to break or destroy. Ignore the effects of Complications or Tricks that would break the item when using it.
